Our Mission
We believe that a good night's sleep is the foundation of a healthy, productive, and happy life. But modern life, with its endless distractions and irregular schedules, has made natural sleep elusive for many.
"When to Sleep?" was born out of a simple realization: waking up groggy isn't always about how long you slept, but when you woke up. Our sleep is divided into 90-minute cycles. Waking up in the middle of a deep sleep cycle leaves you feeling exhausted, even if you slept for a full eight hours. Waking up at the end of a cycle, however, makes you feel refreshed and alert.
During a typical night, your brain cycles through various stages of sleep: from light sleep, to deep sleep, to REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. These cycles take roughly 90 minutes to complete. Our calculator works backwards (or forwards) in 90-minute increments, factoring in the average 15 minutes it takes to fall asleep, to find the optimal times for you to wake up or go to bed.
Our goal is to provide a simple, beautiful, and distraction-free tool to help you align your schedule with your body's natural rhythms. Whether you're trying to figure out when to go to bed to wake up at 7 AM, or when to set your alarm if you go to sleep right now, we're here to help you wake up feeling your best.
We'd love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out with suggestions or simply to let us know how the calculator has helped your sleep routine.
